The “Kids Helping Kids Day” that took place on the 1st of October 2006 at Scarness. During this very memorable occasion our Academy contributed to the important efforts of the ForgetMeNot Children’s Home by providing a Martial Arts training workshop as well as a Martial Arts Team Demonstration during the event.

The “Kids Helping Kids Day” was a great success and I feel very grateful that our Academy was invited to be part of this particular event.

I would like to express a special note of Appreciation in particular to two organisations that gave me their valuable support towards our Academy’s involvement for such an important goal. The Burrum Heads Progress Association helped us by providing tables and chairs that not only us but also the ForgetMeNot members and volunteers were very grateful for and made good use of. I also received valuable assistance by the Reid family of Otto’s Fitness World who provided us with the shade shelter/annexe which luckily for me I was surrounded by helpers who actually knew how to put it together ? ! Thankyou in particular to Daniel who helped me load my Dad’s ute with all of the tables and chairs from Burrum Heads as well as following me all the way back there after the event and helping me return them. It was a long day for us but definitely a very worthy one.

We helped the ForgetMeNot organisation to raise a grand total of $ 3142 throughout the day which is now channelled towards their orphanage in Nepal.
Thank you to all of the many students (and all of our very supportive families) for helping the Integrated Development Academy to move towards the very positive direction of kindness and generosity to such worthy avenues in life. Because of your determined efforts and the generosity of our sponsors we were able to donate $252.50 to the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia. www.bcia.org.au

Our major sponsor this year was Otto’s Fitness World who through their support assisted me to purchase a total of 17 shirts with screen-printing that will be presented to each of the 17 people who participated in the Pushup/Situp-Athon. The remaining funds that we raised will be put towards trophies, certificates and the Academy’s Christmas BBQ supplies.

The 2007 Kid’s Helping Kid’s Day that was held at the Scarness Esplanade on Sunday the 21st of October. I must say how grateful I am for all of the students and families who braved the adverse weather conditions and remained dedicated to our 20 minute Martial Arts demonstration.

I feel that our annual performance at this particular event is very worthwhile and it was definitely encouraging to receive some very positive comments from the organisers and spectators that were there watching us on the day.

If anyone would like to find out more about the ForgetMeNot Organisation there is a lot of good info at the website ForgetMeNot.org.au

Thankyou to Mark for operating our camcorder and also to my big bro Tony for taking the photo’s. I am in the process of producing a DVD with the event footage that will also include a photo slide show with the images that were captured on the day. Just let me know if you would like one.

The Walk Of Inspiration

(22nd of July 2007)

A total of 33 students and family members of the local Integrated Martial Arts/Self-Development Academy recently joined forces to raise a grand total of $829.50 for the GreenPeace organisation. The Fundraising event was named "The Walk Of Inspiration"and involved walking as a group along the coastline from Toogoom to Dundowran. To raise the money each participant was given generous sponsorship by various individuals and business owners within our community.

Leila & Layla :)

Fundraising for charity ventures are an integral aspect of the Self-Development training that all students within the Integrated Martial Arts/Development Academy are encouraged to be involved in. As part of their goal setting and personal achievement curriculum all members of the Academy are inspired to direct their energy not only towards their own self-development but also to focus it back into the world in which they live in the form of courage, kindness, generosity and mutual respect.

Making our way up the beach

Integrated Martial Arts Instructor and local youth worker Michael Green was once again very proud of all those involved in this latest group achievement.

“It was very uplifting to see so many people willing to unite together to put in a strong effort towards such a worthy cause. On the morning of the event the weather was not the best so I was very proud of everyone who participated for stepping out of their comfort zone for the 3 hour journey along the coast line”.

“Every year our Academy embarks on at least 1 fundraising for charity venture and it is always a good feeling to be able to send the much needed funds away to the chosen organisations. We decided to choose GreenPeace this year because of the issues overseas with the killing of the whales and also in respect to making a stand against the problem of Global Warming and Environmental Degradation.”

2007 Charity Group
Congratulations to all of the students and parents who took part in this Inspirational event and thankyou to everyone in the
community who supported us through their generosity and encouraged us along the journey.” www.greenpeace.org.au

Our annual Situp/Pushup Athon was held at the Burrum Heads Community Hall on the 1st of December 2007.
In total there were 25 people who participated on the day and also another 4 people who were unable to be there at the event but completed their 1 hour worth of
pushups/situps at other venues instead. Well done to you all for showing your commitment and perseverance to be determined right through to the very end.

Because of your personal determination and also the generous support from our sponsors we were able to donate $250.00 to the Starlight Children's Foundation Of Australia.
Congratulations once again for everyone who contributed to such a worthy cause.

Dear Integrated Academy Students, Families and Friends,

Thankyou all so much for being part of the Walk Of Inspiration event on Sunday! It was an awesome experience and one that I will cherish always.

Thankyou to all of our generous sponsors and supporters who assisted and encouraged us to converge together on this very positive journey of Inspiration, Awareness and Unity.

For all of the participants... Well Done for going the distance and Thank You for deciding to share in what ended up being an awesome and heart warming experience. Next time that I see you all I will be handing out all of the Participation Certificates as just a small symbol of appreciation for your involvement towards such an important cause.

Daniel, Layla & George

Please keep reading the text below as I have included the message that I sent to the members of The Orion Project to notify them of the completion of our event.

Regards and appreciation from Michael

The Walk Of Inspiration event was a great success! We had 59 participants (58 Humans and 1 Canine :) ) that arrived on the day to be involved in the event. As well as sharing a very uplifting experience together we were able to raise a total of $ 1 423.75 AUD for the Orion Project!

Madolyn & Brooke & Layla

This ended up being one of the most memorable and significant experiences of my life as during the event I was able to facilitate a special "Positive Unity and One World Peace Meditation/Visualisation". For three successive mornings leading up to the event I intuitively felt to grab a note pad and pencil and began writing it. (the scanned pages are attached to this message).

I send heartfelt thanks to all of the team members of The Orion Project for the importance of that which you have created, and for giving me the opportunity to be called forward in such a positive direction. I feel a deep sense of gratitude and humility because so many of the Integrated Academy students, friends and families all got to share in a very beautiful and meaningful experience for such a great cause.

With Sincere Blessings of Peace and Enlightened Abundance,

"The Annual Exercise-Athon"
5th of December 2010

This was the first time that we not only did as many push-ups and sit-ups as we could in 1hour but we also were allowed to do another exercise technique that we call squat punches. So for three days after the event there was even more pain distributed into multiple regions of the body :) But regardless, it was great to see so much determination, enduranceand perseverence shown amongst all participants who didn't let a little bit of pain and discomfort stop them from doing their best.

This was the first time the event was held at the Dundowran Recreation Hall instead of our usual venue at Burrum Heads.
My good friends Jack and Jean Simmons were also there in whole-hearted support of our efforts, which made the event even more special and meaningful.

A percentage of the funds that we raised were put towards the Academy Christmas BBQ & Trophy presentations.
And because of everyone's determined efforts we were also able to donate a $238.00 cheque to the Qld Guide Dogs Association. www.guidedogsqld.com.au

Local Youths Unite For Charity

(30th of March 2004)

Various students of the Integrated Martial Arts Academy from Hervey Bay and Burrum Heads recently joined forces to raise a total of $295.00 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Fund-raising for charity ventures are an essential requirement for all members within this local not-for-profit club’s self-development curriculum. The funds gained by each contributor are sent to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which are then utilised for further research of the Muscular Dystrophy disorder and also to assist with the individual and family support of those in need.

The members of the Integrated Martial Arts Academy mostly consist of children between the ages of 4 and 17, who as part of their goal setting and personal achievements are encouraged to embark upon at least one major fund-raising for charity venture per year. Integrated Martial Arts Instructor and local youth worker Michael Green was once again very proud of all those involved in this latest group achievement. “Generosity and thoughtfulness towards others in life is an important virtue to share and express and can become a very character building catalyst for all those involved”.

“It is always great to witness people of such an early age uniting their energies and efforts together in order to help others. I am very grateful towards all of the children and also their families who participated as a whole to enable our small local club to make such a contribution to the Muscular Dystrophy Association”. www.mda.org.au

"Pink Ribbon Day Fundraising Success"

The Integrated Martial Arts Academy of Burrum Heads/Hervey Bay recently joined forces with the Maryborough Youth Community Association (MYCA) to raise funds for breast cancer research and support. Students of the Integrated Martial Arts Academy along with various members of the MYCA group embarked on this fund-raising for charity venture and through their co-operation were able to raise a total of $282.00.

Youth Support Worker Michael Green was very proud of the thoughtfulness that was displayed from so many local youths in Burrum Heads, Hervey Bay and Maryborough to unite their efforts together for such a good cause. “It is very inspirational to see so many young people within the Fraser Coast region who are eager to make these kinds of generous contributions towards others”. “Fund-raising for charity can go a long way in helping to promote generosity and kindness throughout our communities and within society as a whole, and is also very spiritually uplifting and character building for all those involved.”
“It was great to witness the high amount of support and encouragement that was given to these young people by their families and friends in order to be able to make such a contribution to the Qld Cancer Fund”. www.CancerQld.org.au
